Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced Subject Matter Advisor

With a background in agriculture to provide expert guidance on sustainable agricultural practices

In Chamba Block. The advisor will focus on the cultivation of strawberries, beans, and

Tomatoes. This role involves developing and implementing training programs for farmers,

Advising on crop selection, soil health, pest management, and irrigation techniques, and

Monitoring and evaluating the impact of agricultural initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Expert Guidance on Sustainable Practices:

○ Provide expert advice on sustainable agricultural practices tailored to the cultivation of

Strawberries, beans, and tomatoes.

○ Develop strategies to enhance crop yield and quality through sustainable methods.

  1. Training Program Development and Implementation:

○ Design and conduct comprehensive training programs for local farmers on best practices

In agriculture.

○ Ensure training programs address the specific needs and challenges faced by farmers in

The Chamba Block region.

  1. Crop Selection and Management:

○ Advise farmers on optimal crop selection based on soil and climatic conditions.

○ Provide guidance on maintaining soil health through organic and sustainable practices.

  1. Pest Management:

○ Develop and recommend effective pest management strategies to protect crops from

diseases and pests.

○ Promote the use of eco-friendly pesticides and integrated pest management techniques.

  1. Irrigation Techniques:

○ Advise on efficient irrigation methods to ensure optimal water usage and conservation.

○ Implement irrigation systems that enhance crop growth and productivity.

  1. Monitoring and Evaluation:

○ Monitor the progress and impact of agricultural initiatives and training programs.

○ Evaluate outcomes and provide feedback for continuous improvement of agricultural

practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in sustainable agriculture, particularly in the cultivation of strawberries, beans, and tomatoes.
  • Strong knowledge of soil health, pest management, and irrigation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with farmers and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating agricultural projects is a plus.
  • 6-7 years of experience in the Agriculture sector is preferred

Location and Travel:

  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Familiarity with the local region (Chamba Block) and understanding of its specific challenges and opportunities is highly desirable.
