Inspired by the indomitable spirit of Dr. Johari, whose ideals of accessible healthcare and holistic community welfare laid the foundation for an organization destined to catalyse change, 2024 stands as a monumental testament to his legacy. In a world where barriers often dictate access, Ashray has consistently defied odds, taking up challenges and metamorphosing them into opportunities by delivering sustainable solutions across India’s most remote regions.

This year, Ashray’s impact has reached unprecedented heights, touching over 2.47 million lives, a statistic that is not merely a number but a reflection of countless lives transformed, hopes reignited, and futures reshaped. From the mist-covered peaks of Lahaul and Spiti to the arid plains of Narmada, every initiative embodies Ashray’s commitment to not just surviving but thriving through challenges, and it is this very commitment that fuels our momentum as we look towards the future and welcome 2025 with a plethora of more such milestones.

Our Top Initiatives

1. Sanjeevani MMU – Clinic on Wheels

In 2024, the Sanjeevani MMU initiative expanded its wings further into the remote and underserved corners of India. Conquering challenging territories and inaccessible regions, the mobile medical units have become lifelines for millions. These rolling healthcare hubs came alive from critical interventions to preventive health education, thus knitting a safety net of care where access to traditional healthcare is almost non-existent. Healthcare is now not just a distant dream for Ashray; it’s an onus on our shoulders to show up for those living on the margins.

2. Project Cheer-Urja

Through Project Cheer-Urja, Ashray has truly redefined a nascent approach towards environmental sustainability. This initiative tackles the destructive menace of forest fires, turning pine needles, one of nature’s most potent fire starters, into a valuable biofuel resource. But that’s not all; it also fosters local employment, generating livelihoods through innovative processes like pine needle briquetting and herbal soap-making. In 2024, a particularly noteworthy achievement was the submission of our award application for the esteemed Golden Peacock CSR Award, recognizing the significant contribution of Project Cheer-Urja in advancing environmental sustainability and community development. Going beyond its set-out embryonic motive of reducing forest fires, Project Cheer-Urja has been a feather in Ashray’s hat when it comes to contributing towards creating rudimentary environmental impact for the year 2024, and we carry this burning flame of pine into an industrializing 2025.

3. Holiya

In the face of relentless water scarcity in the scorched provinces of Patan, Holiya emerged as a formidable initiative that redefined water conservation and management. This year, we expanded our efforts to address flood mitigation, groundwater replenishment, and agricultural revitalization. Through ingenious water management strategies, Holiya is not just alleviating the symptoms of drought but also sowing the seeds for long-term ecological and economic prosperity, proving that with the right vision, even the mightiest forces of nature can be harnessed for good as we pave new avenues ensuring ecological sustainability in 2025.

4. DDUGKY & PMKVY

At Ashray, we understand that empowerment begins with fundamentals, and those entail practical knowledge developed through operational skills. Through DDUGKY & PMKVY, we’ve reached out to thousands of young individuals, providing them with skills ranging from financial literacy to vocational cosmetology. The objective isn’t simply to teach but to craft pathways towards building dignified livelihoods. This year, we successfully trained and employed a myriad of individuals, helping them take charge of their futures and make lasting impacts within their communities.

5. Beauty and Wellness Training

The Beauty and Wellness Training program continued to make waves in 2024, offering invaluable training to individuals in marginalized communities of Ahmedabad. By equipping them with the cosmetology skills needed for professional success in a booming industry, we’ve not only opened up new economic opportunities but also fostered confidence and self-reliance. This initiative is a testament to the power of skill, beauty, and self-worth, a trifecta that has reshaped the professional lives of hundreds.

• Environment: Our environmental initiatives, led by Project Cheer-Urja and Holiya, touched the lives of 764,900+ individuals, safeguarding ecosystems while fostering sustainable livelihoods. These projects have gone beyond environmental preservation and have proven that ecology and economy can coalesce harmoniously for mutual benefit.
• Health and Hygiene: In the realm of health and hygiene, Ashray has impacted 1,215,900+ lives through our Sanjeevani MMU clinics and associated healthcare interventions. The reach of our mobile medical units extends beyond merely treating illnesses but also providing platforms for education, empowering individuals with the knowledge needed to safeguard their health and well-being.
• Skill Development: In skill development, we have empowered 497,060+ individuals, teaching them everything from vocational skills to financial literacy. This initiative continues to be a pillar of empowerment, enabling individuals to secure sustainable employment and uplifting entire communities in the process.

New Releases: Expanding Our Footprint

1. Head Office in Pune

This year, Ashray’s organizational footprint grew stronger with the establishment of our head office in Pune. This new central hub will serve as the nerve center for our operations, propelling us into a future filled with greater reach and impact.

2. Sanjeevani MMU Wheels Rolling in New Regions

Sanjeevani MMU hit new milestones, expanding its reach to the far-flung regions of Lahaul, Spiti, Dahod and Narmada. Our mobile clinics have become the ultimate expression of Ashray’s dedication to healthcare equity, ensuring that even the most marginalized are not left behind.

3. Mobilizing Healthcare Across Jharkhand’s Untamed Expanses

Amidst the unyielding terrains of Jharkhand and the silent struggles of its tribal communities, our Mobile Medical Unit embarked on a transformative journey, bridging the chasm between neglect and care. From navigating impossibilities to scripting stories of resilience, we’ve redefined access to healthcare, charting a path from adversity to triumph.

4. Project CHIMES in Chamba

Project C.H.I.M.E.S (Chamba Holistic Initiative for Marginalized Empowerment & Sustainability) made its grand debut in Chamba, marking the start of a new era in regional development. Through education, sustainable farming, and social engagement, Project CHIMES is positioning itself as a model for holistic rural empowerment.

4. SMART School Initiative in Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir
   

The SMART School Initiative commenced its transformative journey in 2024 across Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir, heralding a paradigm shift in education. By integrating technology to foster engaging and interactive learning environments, enhancing digital literacy to prepare students for the demands of the digital age, and equipping educators with advanced tools to revolutionize teaching methodologies, this initiative is redefining educational excellence and setting a benchmark for progressive learning ecosystems.

5. Project RISE in Rajouri

The seeds of Project RISE were planted in Rajouri, with the aim of revitalizing the region through capacity-building and community-driven growth. With an eye on long-term sustainability, this project will pave the way for a new chapter in Rajouri’s development story.

6. Karuka by Ashray Foundation

Finally, the launch of Karuka by Ashray Foundation introduced a line of products crafted by artisans, preserving traditional craftsmanship while providing a sustainable source of income. It is a celebration of culture, creativity, and economic resilience.
